Assessment 2 was about designing and creating a lamp for your friend or family. For this assessment After serious consideration, I decided to design a lamp for my mom.The reason why I decided to design a lamp for my mom was she was currently studying to get into university and that she does not have good eyesight. Those reasons made me think that it would be a great opportunity to design a lamp for her in order to help her to study.

After interviewing my mom, instead of a lamp that can help her to study, she wanted me to design a lamp that could decorate the house. And she also included that she want to put the diffuser inside the lamp so it can produce a good smell.

After the interview, I decided to use my living room to place the new lamp because this is a

place that my mom spend her most time in house, and also thought it would be a good place to put the new lamp. After choosing the spot, I researched other different types of other lamps on Google to get inspiration and I was looking for lamps that look not only simple but also luxurious so that they would suit well in the living room.

I was looking for lamps that look not only simple but also luxurious so that they would suit well in the living room.

The type of lamp that I thought my mom would want was a small table lamp that could help her to focus on studying, but in fact she wanted one that could decorate the house so that she could get ready for the open house. After acknowledging her goals and wishes, it helped me to focus on designing a lamp that suits well with the living room and also to choose an appropriate colour, length, and materials for my invention. To be honest, it would be easier to buy a lamp and a diffuser separately. However, because my mom is my client, I should listen to her request and see to it that my creation will satisfy her desires.

My Lamp prototypes ( Visualization and specification)

- Specification and exploded view

- My final lamp and mock up view

Instead of using fusion 360, I decided to draw it by myself, because I was more confident in drawing it, and also colouring it in. I used pen markers and a little bit of Photoshop to produce my final lamp.

The best thing about this lamp is probably I satisfied my moms need. She liked the classical design and the position of the diffuser as well. Secondly, I like the simple but luxurious design in this lamp. As it was created for the decoration purpose, it suits well with any other rooms.

The things that could be done better was the lamp itself, because I did not use 3D model program, which makes it unrealistic. Also if I had more time, I want to change the shade design.
